Onboarding Teardown

The following screens sum up the entire onboarding process leading to the activation.

This is the homepage of Fundoo Friday

1.jpg

What looks good?

  • Simple CTA - Play Now
This clearly directs the user to take action
  • Recorded gameplay video
This builds trust and credibility by having real human faces with emotions while experiencing the platform
  • 30 Days free trial
Priming that the user gets a free 30-day trial
  • Game tiles
Gives the user an idea about what sort of games to expect out of this platform (both single-player and multiplayer games).

What sucks?

  • Unclear message not directed directly towards the ICP
"Long work hours" is directed towards the employees (not the decision maker/ICP)
  • Missing terms that are a part of JTBD
Could have included terms such as employee retention, productivity, culture, and remote teams

2.jpg

Upon clicking any of the three Play Now buttons, the first onboarding screen appears

  • Just two details to land on the gaming screen

3.jpg

  • The automated onboarding process could have been started on this screen as this is blank and does not have any action leaving behind the user confused as to the next step to be taken.

4.jpg

  • The previous screen could be skipped as the onboarding flow starts from here.
  • The user is primed with a blurred array of games he can choose to play from.
  • The user is first guided to play a single-player game

5.jpg

Mini Golf is one of the single-player games that Fundoo Friday offers to the user.

6.jpg

Upon experiencing the single-player game, the user is navigated to play a multiplayer game.

This pop screen could have been made even more interesting as it just looks like a boring question to the user.

This screen could have been composed with a message ensuring positive reaffirmation regarding the gaming experience.

7.jpg

The user is now being redirected to a multiplayer game to be able to play with his employees.

8.jpg

The above screen could have either been neglected or should have contained only multiplayer games as prompted in the previous screen.

Also, a pop asking the user to choose a multiplayer game should be added.

9.jpg

This screen requesting the user to schedule a game for later disrupts the core onboarding flow of onboarding employees to the platform and also delays the action of the user to fully experience the core value proposition of the platform.

A screen directly showing a link to invite employees to play a multiplayer game could have been placed here.

10.jpg

Since it is an instant game to be played, the following data should be removed:

  • Date and Time
  • Number of players added
  • Profile picture

Content to be included:

  • Game hosted by

11.jpg

The user gets redirected back to the scheduled games screen and can view the scheduled game.

12.jpg

Eventually, a screen to validate the user's experience and share their feedback.

13.jpg

To complete the account creation process, this screen was included.

But this could be skipped by adding plugins that automatically gather data with the domain name in the work email id.

Activation Metric

Hypothesis: 4 Multiplayer Games in 10 Working days

Reason: If an HR makes efforts to onboard at least 10 of his employees and also schedules multiplayer games/tournaments twice a week, then the likelihood of him being retained and also encouraging the employees to use Fundoo Friday would be higher.

Metrics to be tracked:

  1. D1, D7, D30
  2. DAU, WAU, MAU
  3. Average TAT
  4. Acquisition source
